Kids Closet Organization Tips

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

We all know closets are a pain in the rear and tough to maintain. The bedroom closet is the worst but none more so than the childrens closet. Our little pride and joys simply don’t like to clean up and when they are babies it is our responsibility to handle that task. There are several ways to handle organization in the baby’s room. When it comes to keeping your children’s room neat and tidy here are a few secrets on how to properly take charge of their closet:

1. Separate small items from larger clothing items. Items such as socks, tights, gloves, hats and earrings need to be placed on separate baskets where it will be easier for your child to access. That way everything is in order, it’s easy to find and hard to lose.

2. Shoes – you must have a place for them, otherwise your child will tend to create a mountain pile of them in the closet. Get a separate shoe organizer if you can, storage cubes. If you do not have enough room, find shoe organizers that hang over the door or one that can slide under the bed.

3. Accessories—bracelets, earrings, pendants, hair accessories and ties are the hardest to organize! Especially for a girl’s closet, be sure there is plenty of room for them because they’re more likely to multiply over the years! Get hooks and holders for where you will place your child’s hair accessories so it’s easily accessible.

4. Clothes. For quick changing every school day, outfits can be paired together. Pair tops and bottoms on a hanger with clips that are designed to hold both top and bottom pieces.

5. Clothes and shoes aren’t the only kid’s items that need storage. Games and activities need a place in the kid’s room, too. You don’t want your children’s games, crafts, kits and toys cluttering in their bedroom. They can be dangerous and a potential choking hazard. So, keep the games and activities in the baby closet organizer. Keep it within your child’s reach, so that if their friend comes over they can take it out any time they want.
