Essentials for Easy and Pain Free Nursing

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

When you have a baby, there are a lot of things to think about. Nursing is one of those things. Especially with a first baby, nursing can seem strange and difficult. It doesn’t have to be that way, however. Making sure you have these essentials can ensure an easy and pain free nursing experience.

First, you want to make sure you have products that will take away any pain you may experience. When you begin nursing, you may have a period of time where your body and your baby are trying to get used to the whole nursing thing. You should get creams, ointments, and warming pads to help yourself be prepared for any pain or discomfort you should experience. Though these things are essential when beginning the nursing process, eventually nursing will become second nature to you and you won’t see any more painful side effects.

You also want to make sure nursing is an easy task, whether you are at home or in out in public. Nursing will become a whole lot easier if you start with a great nursing bra. These are specific types of bra’s that unsnap for easy access and quick nursing sessions. You don’t have to worry about fumbling around and possible flashing people on accident. Nursing bras are a great way to feel comfortable and supported, while still being able to nurse with ease. You can also get clothing that will make nursing easier.  Many people choose to get a nursing cover, which they put over themselves when they are going to nurse. It gives your baby a chance to eat in peace, as well as giving you a chance to properly cover up so you don’t feel uncomfortable or exposed in public.

Nursing can be difficult at first, but don’t give up. Things will get easier and you will be happy you stuck with it.

The Benefits of Using a Nursing Bra

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Often times when women begin nursing, they don’t know what they actually need. They hear different opinions from all their friends, their nurses, their family, and sometimes from complete strangers. They tell you a million different things that you absolutely need. It can get confusing as to what essentials you actually do need when nursing. When it comes down to it, there is only one real essential to make nursing a good experience: a good nursing bra. Here are a few benefits of using a bra specifically designed for nursing.

First, you don’t ruin your regular bra. When people use their normal bra during nursing, they usually end up ruining it. They have to pull, lift, stretch, and rearrange their bra in order to nurse properly. You might as well spend the money on a few new nursing bras instead of ruining your other ones.

Secondly, using a nursing bra makes the experience a whole long more comfortable. You will be able to feel supported while having the comfort available while nursing at the same time. While nursing, you won’t have any wires poking you or straps pinching you. They are specifically designed for your comfort.

And lastly, nursing bras are made to provide easy and hassle free nursing. All you have to do to begin nursing is unsnap the specified hook and your bra has magically transformed into the perfect place to nurse. The good part is you won’t even be able to tell you are wearing a nursing bra until you actually need to use it as such. Better yet, other people won’t be able to tell a difference.

With so many benefits to using nursing bras, you may just want to consider trying one yourself. You will never go back to using regular bras for nursing again.

Nursing in Public Easily and Comfortably

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Having a baby for the first time can be exciting, but it is also very overwhelming. You are going through so many things for the first time and you may feel inexperienced or unworthy. You go through pregnancy for nine months preparing for when your little baby comes, but once they do, you realize that all the preparing in the world wouldn’t have made you feel completely competent when the time actually came. Not only do you have to worry about taking care of a baby now, but you have to worry about nursing as well. Though nursing seems complicated, it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few essentials that you should get in order to make sure nursing is as easy and comfortable as possible, no matter where you are.

First, you need to realize that not everyone is trying to sneak a peek. It is hard not to be self conscious breastfeeding in public areas, but your little one has to eat. You can make it easier by getting the proper clothing. You want to make sure you have a great nursing bra. If you end up using your regular bra, you will go through a lot of trouble just to start the nursing session, let alone running the risk of ruining your bra. You also want to get a great nursing shirt. They have nursing shirts that you can actually unclip so that you aren’t exposing anything. Not even your stomach when you pull your shirt up. If you want, you can also get a nursing cover that goes around your neck, giving you and your little one a little alone time even in the most public of places. You want nursing to be as easy as possible. Getting these items will ensure easy and comfortable nursing.

The privacy of a Nursing Shirt provides for Mother and Child

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Everyone knows that the best nutrition a newborn can have is delivered from the milk of the infant’s mother. Delivering all of the things a child needs to ward of illness and provide the newborn with the food that adds to their healthy growth mothers that are nursing are required to feed their baby every four hours. For some women the use of a breast pump allows them to manage the feeding schedule of their infant. But there is a time when nursing a baby requires easy access to the supply of milk that is coming into each breast. Lifting up a shift and slipping the nipple out from behind a nursing bra a lot of women feel a little embarrassed about feeding a child in public when they need to.

The problem is not so much the natural process that a child sucking on a nipple evokes, but more the awkwardness of revealing a breast by lifting up a piece of clothing to allow the hungry child access to the milk. However the problem of fumbling with clothing can be overcome with a nursing shirt that fits under any article of clothing and provides the privacy that every woman wants as she is preparing to feed her baby. Clipped onto the top of the bra strap the undershirt cover the skin and does not expose the mother to the world as she is delivering breast milk to an infant.

Worn as an additional undergarment between the bra and clothing the nursing shirt provides the added comfort of a layer of clothing that is hiding the female form from anyone that is looking on as a child is being fed. With a blanket over one shoulder that offers the privacy of covering a child’s face as they are sucking on the nipple a woman that is breast feeding her child can enjoy motherhood without embarrassment or inconveniencing herself when she feels milk coming in and knows that it is time to feed her young baby.

Cheap Art Supplies For Your Baby

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Babies are inherently creative, and it is always a good idea to give them an outlet to express themselves and explore their imaginations. Letting your infant and toddler start to experiment with art supplies is an easy way to help them start, but also to learn motor and cognitive skills. Supplying your baby with the tools they need does not have to be expensive, however. You can find a lot of cheap art supplies that are fun and educational, but that won’t break the bank.

Before you start to look for cheap art supplies, it might be a good idea to know what art supplies are even out on the market to begin with. You will want to start out reading the article “Some of the Best Options for Baby Arts and Crafts Supplies” to decide what category you want to look at buying first. Then, you can narrow your choices down to the less expensive options within your chosen category.

Once you have a general idea of what you are looking for, consider these cheap options:

Play-Doh: Play-doh has been around for many years, and for good reason. It is easy for little hands to grasp, does not have any loose pieces or jagged edges, and can be molded into many different objects. Play-doh comes in fun colors and a tub of it is usually under a dollar or two to buy.

Crayons: Crayons have also been around for a long time because they don’t stain little fingers and can generally be cleaned up fairly easily. A couple of crayons and a piece of paper or cheap coloring book help your baby learn how to hold a drawing instrument, and let them explore different colors and movements.

Chalk: Chalk is also a good idea to consider. It gives you a chance to spend some time with your baby outdoors, and the mess can be cleaned up with the squirt of a hose. Chalk is also less than a few dollars and your child and make lines and shapes as big as your driveway will allow.

Dogs to Kids….A “Natural” Transition?

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Hello dog lovers and dog sitters! We hope that your Veterans Day weekend helped you recharge because this blog post is going to require quite a bit of thinking.

I was catching up with one of my college friends last weekend and we got onto a random topic about future plans. He has been married for a few years and is excited to start his new job next March. At one point he was talking about his plan to “get a dog and then a kid.” I asked him why he had decided on that particular order of events and his response was “to learn responsibility and how to care for another living creature so that we (the married couple) are better at it when we have kids.” So I found myself getting really nosey at this point asked the question about if he really even wanted a dog. Now my friend is a bit generous on using fancy words so the conversation went a bit haywire at that point for this blog post.

The original conversation got me thinking about why people get dogs sometimes and if it is ok to get one in preparation for a kid. I have polarized feelings on this because on the one hand, I feel like this is very irresponsible behavior for dog owners.  A dog is still a living thing, and, as any good Seattle dog boarding facility will attest, require sufficient time, attention and, of course, love.  On the other hand, I see the point that learning to live with and love a dog is perhaps the closest one can get to learning to live with a human baby.

This issue is ultimately a complex one.  Is it ok to ‘use’ a dog as a trial run for a child?  We would love to hear your thoughts!

Disney Princess Invitations – Some Ideas to Start With

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

When you are planning out a birthday party for your 4 year old daughter, the Disney princess theme is sure to cross your mind. Indeed, it is a favorite with kids and they want to be princesses themselves. The first thing you want to plan regarding her birthday party is the invitations that you will be sending out to other little girls just like your child. These will invariably be themed on Disney princesses as well. Customizing these invitations is very easy today, what with advanced printing and design techniques. Here are a few things you can be creative at when designing them.

Shapes

The shape of Disney princess invitations can vary wildly according to which princess you have chosen as the theme. A great idea is to create multifold invitation cards that are shaped like a complete castle when opened fully.

Color them with an overall pink theme if you like, because it is a girl’s favorite color in most cases. You can also create invitations in the shape of the princesses themselves. You can use their flowing hair as the main attraction of such invitations. For example, Ariel the Little Mermaid has glowing red hair, which can effectively be used on invitations

Size and wordings

The size of the invitations sent to children, whatever the theme, is not generally difficult to decide. Most have a somewhat large invitation. The bigger invitations give children a sense of awe and they eagerly await the birthday day to unfold. The place where you can be most creative however is the wordings that you use. Kids respond to well worded invitations more than adults. Use wordings that create a sense of excitement about what is awaiting them. The more kids you manage to invite, the more special your child will ultimately feel about herself.

Important Things to Consider When Using a Surrogacy Program

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

To understand how a surrogacy program works, it is first best to define surrogacy. In fact, as it is based on an agreement between a woman who carries and delivers a baby for another person, it is also important for all parties to ascertain any risks to health and/or finance. As such, it is imperative that any woman providing such service realize that once the baby is born, one may or may not be future contact.

However, there is another aspect of surrogacy which is often overlooked. This is based on whether or not the woman providing such services is paid. For, if so, then it becomes a commercial operation in which the individual carrying the child must be paid in full, often including medical and other expenses well before delivery.

So, when it comes to more traditional operations, conception often takes place by way of artificial insemination. In this mode, the woman wishing to carry the child has either fresh or frozen sperm inserted into the egg, most often at an outpatient facility. Of course, those wives allowing husbands to sleep with another woman in order to become pregnant can often save a great deal of money over the cost of artificial insemination.

Although there are many reasons why a couple may wish to use a surrogate, for example, such is often the case when it comes to medical or social issues, such as a single man or women desiring to have a child. In fact, many women who are perfectly healthy enough for pregnancy simply prefer to have another woman carry a child to term. For in doing so one can continue any special work or other projects which may prevent one from doing so oneself.

To this end, while there are some couples who allow the birth mother in a surrogacy program access to such child after birth and delivery, most often social parents simply want to take possession of the child at birth without any future contact or involvement. As such, it is imperative that any woman providing such service read and sign any contract related to such parenting in detail in order to assure that all parties agree on what may be best for the child both now and in the future.

How to Find a Good Surrogate Agency

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Searching for a surrogate mother can be a tough task, especially if you have little knowledge about the surrogacy business. Your best bet is to find a surrogate agency and count on their help. An agency is more professional than individuals. Online research and offline networking will be valuable when searching for a reliable service. You will be overwhelmed by the number of surrogate agencies. To make a wise choice, you may want to do a detailed research on the reputation of each agency first.

Visiting the agencies in person is the best way to get to know them better. You may discuss your needs and concerns when talking to the agency. A good service will screens their surrogates based on their medical records. You should look for AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and hepatitis B and C on the medical records to make sure your baby will be safe when born.

To make sure the person you choose is good; you should arrange a personal meeting with her. The person will have the option to choose you or not; therefore, make sure you and the potential surrogate agency mother are comfortable with each other.

Make sure to discuss all things such as fees, medical insurance, dieting plan, and other concerns beforehand so as to avoid any misunderstanding and mistrust later. If you are sure that you have found a suitable person, you can proceed to signing the contract. Remember to get a lawyer to review everything for you.

With the help of the substitute mother, you will have a healthy baby without having to go through the hardship of childbearing and childbirth. Many couples have had success with this method. As long as you are good parents and you know how to educate the child, he is entirely your kid because he has your genes.
