How and Why To Buy Wholesale Diapers Online

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

A common issue that frustrates parents of new born are the high costs of raising them, and according to many parents, the biggest money stealer is the baby diaper. I have to agree that they are very expensive. Until few years ago, it was a concern for my wife and I. Diapers are basically use and throw material and spending a fortune on them every year does not make much sense.

In the recent past, we have moved to buying groceries online. One of the main advantages is, we get to capitalize on heavy shopping deals and offers. The other is the fact that, when we buy a dozen items, we get free shipping. This saves us a lot of hassle of driving to the supermarket thrice every month, standing in long line to clear the bill, etc. Top it all, it saves a good amount of fuel, as the supermarket we visit is about 6 miles from our house.

Among the list of items we buy online are wholesale diapers. They come cheap, when bought in bulk and save a very good amount of money. Initially, we used to buy brands such as huggies or pampers, but recently we decided to try out a generic store brand such as gerber and gdiapers. Honestly, we did not find much difference in the quality and usability. You can easily find these brands on an online store such as amazon.com (which is our favorite).

Another suggestion I can give you in picking up diapers in bulk for a cheaper price is by using monthly coupons at websites such as diapers.com. Of course, you are wondering, “how do I find a coupon?”. Go to diapers.com and sign up for their monthly newsletter and confirm your subscription. You will receive their emails with deals and coupon regularly that you can benefit on.

Lastly, though this one is a little unrelated, if you are not one of those who likes to shop online, or who is not comfortable using your bank cards online, then you can look for a wholesale club in your area such as Sam’s, Costco or BJ’s. Of course, there is a signup fees, but the benefits will outweigh the costs in the long run. Do evaluate the pros and con of each club before you make a final decision. Enjoy your shopping!

Newborn Unique Gift Ideas

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

The big day has arrived.  The precious new baby is here.  The baby shower gifts are neatly tucked away.  Family and friends now look for a unique baby gift with which to welcome the new bundle of joy to the world.  A quick search online will show some possibilities such as a few unique gift baskets.  Consider giving a truly special gift, the “On the Day You Were Born ” keepsake gift.

The gift consists of four parts.  First, purchase a book that welcomes baby to the world.  A perfect and suggested title is, On the Day You Were Born,  by Debra Fraser. The book has welcomed newborns for a while and is a staple in elementary school classrooms.  The delightful tale of the things that happen every day on earth deserves a spot on baby’s bookshelf.  Save the cost of a greeting card by just writing a welcome message to parents and baby on the inside cover.  No more perfect gift exists than a book.

The other three items in the box resemble time capsule type items.  Buy a local newspaper on the date of the birth as the second item.  Then, purchase a magazine publication for the month of the baby’s birth.  The purpose is to tell about the world on the day the baby was born.  An issues magazine such as Time Magazine works well given the intent.  Imagine the fun of  parents and child revisiting the newspaper and magazine yearly and seeing how times have changed! As the fourth item in the box, just snap a few pictures and make a picture pack.  Take shots that the new mom and dad might not get such as the street sign for the street where baby will first call home.  Taking a shot of a movie marquis and gasoline price board also make for good keepsakes. Again, the purpose is for the box to be a snapshot of the world the day the precious baby was born.

In terms of how the gift is packaged, a gift bag or gift box works.  Keep in mind that the book portion of the present will be used now while the other items from more of a time capsule and need to be housed in a vehicle for easy storage.

Enjoy!  Your unique gift to the sweet baby will be enjoyed and revisited for years to come.  That type of unique baby gift is indeed hard to find.    Always look for unique party and gift ideas.

Unisex Baby Crib Bedding

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Parents doing research on unisex baby bedding sets or maybe gender specific baby crib bedding are encouraged to use a little bit of imagination and try to forget about the classic idea that has being going around since they were children about what a “baby” theme should look like.

A lot of experts agree that bright colors like red, lime green and bright orange are very beneficial in stimulating a baby’s imagination and creativity. That is why it is important for parents to move away from the typical baby bedding designs and instead concentrate on bedding that they themselves as an adult can relate to. Combine this with purchasing a unisex baby bedding set and if you make the right choice you will also not have to worry that the bedding set will look outdated once the baby grows up.

From animal print baby bedding to unisex baby bedding sets and gender specific crib bedding, there is something out there to suit everyone’s taste. Your biggest problem will mostly likely be finding and making a decision on the right bedding set for your nursery amongst the plethora of designs, colors and themes available on the market today.

For expecting parents that do not wish to know the baby’s gender a unisex baby bedding set is of course the preferred choice. Just make sure to buy a set made from high quality and durable material so you can easily carry over the same bedding set once you have another baby in the future without having to worry whether it is going to be a boy or a girl and thereby saving you the cost of having to purchase a new bedding set.

Remember that instead of opting for the classic boy or girl baby bedding set try to go for a unisex baby bedding set instead and pick a design which will last for many years to come and will not need replacement just because your child is a few years older and makes the theme look outdated for his or her age.

Choosing a Nursery Theme for Your Baby Boy

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Choosing a nursery theme for your baby can be an exciting task, as you anticipate the day your little one will arrive. One of the joys of pregnancy for many parents is setting up the nursery. It is said that pregnant women tend to want to “nest” towards the end of their pregnancy, which of course can mean anything from Spring cleaning to completely re-painting the nursery, but for most it just means creating a special space for their new baby.

If you know you are having a boy or a girl, you may choose to go with a gendered baby theme, such as a farm tractor theme for a baby boy, or – sticking to the animal theme – a gentler baby animal farm theme for a girl. Of course, if you are a fan of the tractor, you can have those for a girl too, but be prepared for people to assume you were expecting to have a boy.

Some other common baby boy bedding themes include:

  • Jungle animals
  • Winnie the Pooh – classic or Disney
  • Cars, planes and automobiles
  • A moon and stars theme

Yes, any of these can be gender neutral, with the possible exception of the transporation theme (though plenty of girls like toy cars just as much as their brothers).

When choosing your nursery theme, a few points to bear in mind are:

  • Newborns can only see sharp contrasts, so that lovely pastel colored mobile is probably not going to attract his attention much in the first weeks. They also can’t focus well on anything that is too far away.
  • You might not want to make the place your baby will sleep overly stimulating anyway. So having a bright, high contrast mobile over the change table may be a sanity saver (changing an unhappy newborn’s diaper can be challenging), you may actually want those pastels when it comes to the bedding.
  • A very strongly themed room will not age as well as a more neutral room. So theming the bedding and other accessories and keeping the paint and furniture more neutral can be a good compromise.
  • When deciding how much to decorate, consider also whether your baby is going to be staying in this room indefinitely, or will he be moved on when the next baby comes. And if so, is your next baby going to be subjected to his hand-me-down tractor theme, or will you want to pick out something different from her?

Above all, make sure picking out your nursery theme is a joyful process. If it is costing too much or proving too hard, the joy can be taken out. All you really need is somewhere for your baby to sleep quietly, and something to distract him while you change his diaper. The rest is icing.

Can Hiccups In Newborns Be Stopped?

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

You get hiccups every now and then, and it can be very annoying. Interestingly, a newborn hiccups more often than any infant or adult. Newborns hiccup at regular intervals; and they start hiccuping as early as six months from conception. Some mothers will tell you that at one point they had felt their baby hiccuping while they were still inside the womb.

Even if newborns hiccup more often, there is no change in the fact that hiccups are involuntary contraction of the diaphragm. The causes of hiccups among newborns and adult also have similarities. With adults, hiccups may be triggered by overeating, eating spicy and hot food, eating too quickly and drinking too much alcohol and carbonated beverages. With newborns, hiccups may be triggered when he or she gets excited or after feed. However, there is a big difference with how to treat hiccups in newborns and in adults. Most hiccup treatments in adults are not safe to apply to hiccups in newborns. With adults, probably two of the most popular hiccup treatments are to drink plenty of water and to breathe into a paper bag. Any of these methods are impossible to employ to newborns. A newborn or baby can never be forced to drink lots of water, more so to force him or her to breathe into a paper bag. Hence, just like in adults, hiccups are better left untreated. Besides, most hiccups last for a few minutes absent any medical intervention.

As long as hiccups in the newborn do not interfere with his or her sleep and feeding, there is nothing better to do than letting the hiccups resolve on their own. Hiccups among newborns are too common that these newborns may actually wonder why the rest of the people around him or her are not hiccuping that much. Just remember that as the newborn grows, the intensity and frequency of hiccuping are reduced.

What is the Best Doll Pram for Toddlers?

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

Little girls generally start to show an interest in playing with dolls in the younger toddler years – usually from one to two years. Along with the dolls comes all the paraphernalia that goes with them – outfits, bottles and feeding sets, rocking cradles, and of course dolls prams.

A doll pram can make a great first birthday present or Christmas present for any young toddler but it is important to buy an age appropriate pram, as some models are intended for much older children. Toddler toy prams should be sturdy, have no small parts and no mechanisms that can trap little fingers. If your toddler is just learning to walk or still a little unsteady on her feet, you may want to consider one of the dolls prams for toddlers that double as a baby walker.

Wooden doll prams can be a good first choice of doll pram although they are usually a little on the expensive side. Some popular wooden toy companies that make doll prams are Haba, Pintoy and I’m Toy. Look for a sturdy and heavy pram that will support the weight of your child if you’re planning to double it up as a walker. A height adjustable handle is also a bonus.

Plastic doll prams are usually cheaper and lighter but they are also brightly colored, practical (easy to clean) and easy to store. Fisher price make a specially designed walker that also functions as a pram for dolls which little girls will love to push around.

If your child has a particular interest in a character such as Hello Kitty or Peppa Pig, the chances are there is a matching dolls pram. There are also lots of prams designed especially for popular dolls like Baby Annabell.

Pink is unsurprisingly the most common color you’ll see in doll prams for this age group but there are also some more brightly colored and unisex styled prams out there if you want to avoid the super girly. A lot of the wooden prams are also available in an unfinished natural wood style.
